The Singapore Botanic Gardens has been submitted to UNESCO for consideration as a World Heritage Site. In the early days, the Botanic Gardens was a rubber cultivation area. This activity eventually spread to other South-East Asian regions. For its role as the pioneer site to start off this form of activity, this is a strong reason for it to be considered as a World Heritage Site.
